  • We are defending a city with 7,000 men. There are two attacking armies, each having 10,000 men. Yikes.
  • Iain, Jeff and Michael are watching YouTube videos of some guy driving fast or something.
  • We're discussing attacking the supply column, taking out bridges behind the army.
  • The two attacking armies are separate. One is 6 days away, the other 2 or 3 days. So we're attacking the 6-days-away one, hoping that they will be tired and slightly less secure.
  • We attacked their supply train. The army is slowed down.
  • The army has 50 "windmills" (which are actually giant fans, but we like to call them windmills, because it's easier) and 35 smoke-creating fire-wagons.
  • The smoke from the fire-wagons is magical, and anyone who inhales the smoke has everything they see and hear reported back to some central authority. It's a giant surveillance cloud. Nasty.
  • Only way to counteract this is to dispel curse on the victim(s), and only our two priests can do this. Nasty again.

  • We've managed to delay the army such that their arrivals will be staggered by three days.
  • We employ the Null Manoeuvre: we send ⅔ of the city's army out to flank the first incoming army, in order to surprise attack from behind.
  • The ones sent out are Yarrow addicts and thus susceptible to Hivu powder.
  • That way if they get zapped (their wills taken away), they are outside the city, where the harm they can cause is hopefully limited.
  • They may end up subourned to the enemy's purpose, but we'll accept that risk.

Day 792 [23:56]

  • The priests seal themselves in an airtight room for the duration of the attack.
  • Elmar sets up a bunch of "Waiting Flames" for the incoming army.

Day 793

  • The first attacking army arrives and start blowing smoke into the city with their fans. The smoke manages to get over the 100-foot city walls.
  • The Waiting Flames go off, and the attacking army is flanked with complete surprise and routed. Pressed against the city walls, half of the attacking force is decimated, and the other half flee.
  • Amongst the attacking army are several Keslar, and word spreads of this. People are shocked that the Order of Purity are truly no longer to be trusted.

Day 794 [00:19]

  • Elmar decides to teleport over to Dawina to see if they've sent their army as well. Going with him are 4 others: Griff, Null, Vernona and Grond.
  • Teleport failure! Elmar rolls a 40 on the spell failure table. Michael is seriously worried that Griff is going to die.
  • Null is afraid of Elmar's spell casting ineptitude.

  • Null's fear is well justified! john rolls a 01! All items are burned! 30 hit points of damage. Ack!
  • Griff takes 41 damage altogether. Almost half of his full 97.
  • Grond took a lot of nerve damage.

  • Jeff, Iain and Walter head off.
  • Elmar is in really, really bad shape. If he isn't healed fast, he would die.
  • Dr. Jones suspends everyone and heals nerve damage over the next few days.

  • John has to go, so we're calling it.
  • Hrire and Hrach will figure out how the healing all works out.
